Annotation
Phonetics (a multi-faced discipline): the physical nature and structure of speech; how is speech produced and perceived; "speech chain", i.e. the path between the phonological encoding of the linguistic message by the speaker and its decoding by the listener; articulatory phonetics as opposed to acoustic phonetics; the phases of speech; classification of vowels, diphthongs; relevant phonetic units: phones, phonemes, syllables; components of speech production. Suprasegmentals: the scope of this term): word-stress, sentence-stress, intonation, and quantity.
Phonology: the part of linguistics dealing with phonic phonema from the viewpoint of their functions in language. Phonemes and allophone; distinctive features; morpho(pho)nology (morphophonemics) alternations; phonological representations; oppositions between phonemes; classification of phonemic oppositions; phonemes in the position of neutralization.
