Annotation
The aim of the course is to introduce selected medieval texts of literature in German. Through analysis of these texts, which is based mainly on comparing theoriginal with various types of translation, studentsshould understand the literary culture of medievalliterature.On the basis of primary and secondary literature studentsshould acquaint themselves with Germanic mythology,pagan literature, Christian literature, romaunt, heroicepic (Nibelungenlied, Gudrunlied), medieval Germanlyric
(minesang). Authors discussed: Wulfila, Hartmanvon Aue, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Gottfried von Strassburg,Walter von der Vogelweide.
