Annotation
The basic questions of sociology are, among others: What is society? How can we understand it? What is the role of the individual in society? What is the function of inequality in society? This course is aimed at an introduction to the selected sociological questions from th epoint of view of sociological theory and empirical research. The core of the course is so-called sociological imagination (C.
Wright Mills). The course is aimed at classical authors of sociological thinking (Durkheim, Marx, Weber etc.) and it presents key sociological paradigms.
On the basis of this introduction the course proceeds to focus on the topics of culture, socialization, social order and globalization.
