Biedermeier, lyrika: Mörike, Droste-Hülshoff, próza: Gotthelf, Stifter, drama: vídeňské lidové divadlo (Raimund, Nestroy), Grillparzer, Hebbel.
Realismus, charakteristika epochy: politické pozadí (revoluční rok 1848, nacionalismus, socialismus), společenské otázky (ženská emancipace), filosofické směry (positivismus, materialismus, marxismus, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer), literární provoz (čtenářstvo a vzdělání).

The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of German-written literature against the contemporary cultural background and in the European context from the beginning to the present. European context of German romanticism, political and historical background, philosophical foundations, romantic aesthetic theories and genres.
Representatives of the individual stages: the Schlegel brothers, Novalis, Wackenroder, Tieck, Brentano, Arnim, the Grimm brothers, Eichendorff, Hoffmann, Chamisso, Fouqué, the so-called Swabian school.
