Syllabus

- Formation of the target groups in special education and their current overview.

- Shift in the perception of people with disadvantages and minorities: development of concept from the defect, impairment and care to special needs.

- Comprehensive approach to assessing and promoting the quality of life of people with disadvantages.

- Family and child with disability. Parenting and sibling relationships.

- Education as an important component of the life of people with special educational needs.

- Personal autonomy of people with disadvantages, assistance service.

Annotation

At the level of contemporary knowledge, the course presents the history and current direction of the concepts of support for people with disabilities. It is mainly focused on the constitution and development of special education as a scientific field with its interdisciplinary links.

Its aim is to acquaint students with the world of people with disabilities and their special needs with emphasis on traditional and newly assigned target groups of special education. Socialization from a historical perspective, integration, inclusion and co-education as a process will be presented.

The emphasis will be placed on parental care and education as an important component. Students will be acquainted with current special educational literature.
