Syllabus

The course provides an overview of the medieval history of the Czech lands, exploring the cultural realm of the Holy Roman Empire and its eastern fringe, the „Rise and Fall“ of the Přemyslid dynasty, the transition during the „Great Change“ of the 13th c. and the „Golden Era“ of Emperor Charles IV and finally the Hussite Wars that created a complex society of two Christian religions. It also examines the different ethnicities that populated the territory, the general features of their life and their impact on historical developments of the Central-European region.Teacher: PhDr.
