The linguistic part of the course focuses on introducing language as a supreme structure, tool of communication, fundament of human existence and social phenomenon - concerning its specific, as well as universal properties. The aim of the literary part of the course is to introduce students to unique qualities of literary language and familiarize them with the basic terms and categories of literary studies as well the specific features of fiction, poetry and drama.
The main focus is put on the development of students’ ability to analyse a selection of texts from Anglo-American literature from the point of view of their formal structure.
