Anotace

The aim of the course is to gradually develop the key language skills of students from the C1+ to C2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course focuses on language accuracy and complexity, the vocabulary is enhanced systematically, including collocations, idioms and abstract terms. Grammatical phenomena are presented to students as parts of a system, including some of its less frequent features which occur in the texts. Topics:

1. Psychology and Employment, Related vocabulary and Collocations

2. Passives, Passives with Have and Get, Suffixation in English

3. Entertainment and Leisure, Food and Drink Expressive Adjectives

4. Contrast and Reason Clauses, Adverb Clauses of Manner - Practice

5. Money Matters, Collocations and Proverbs with Money, Synonyms

6. Reporting Questions and Verb Patterns, Nominalizations

7. Travel and Tourism, Related Vocabulary and Collocations

8. Counterfactual Conditionals and Alternative Conditional Structures
