Annotation

The course acquaints students with the specifics of reading a professional text. The course is based on the existing knowledge of participants associated with functional styles and genres of the text in general and results in a critical analysis and interpretation of the full range of professional texts. The content is focused on the practical activities of the participants and the development of reading literacy at the academic level. The aim of the course is to develop students' advanced skills of working with professional text with a focus on reading. Content definition:

1. Definition of terms - text, style, text structure and textual coherence (coherence / cohesion).

2. Functional styles.

3. Professional text and its genres.

4. Active and passive reading.

5. Types of professional text (summary, abstract, review).

6. Main principles of oral presentation.
