The course presents the position of education for thinking in European and global contexts in the national curriculum. It recapitulates secondary school knowledge of European Union issues and global development education, with an emphasis on applications in school and out-of-school education and on finding sources of current truthful information. The focus of the course is on didactic modeling of topics and goals of teaching lessons, their analysis, preparation and presentation of their own teaching activities. Aims: The student explains the importance and classification of education for thinking in European and global contexts in the Czech curriculum, specifies its thematic and target focus.
1. Basic facts about the European Union, the process of European integration, sources of European law, goals and values of the EU, EU institutions.
2. Examples of myths and misinformation about the EU, ways of verifying sources of information and critical thinking. EU education, training and youth policy.
3. Global development education (GRV), basic principles, topics and goals. The concept of education for global citizenship. Sustainable development goals.
4. The concept of the cross-sectional topic Education for Thinking in European and Global Contexts in Contemporary Czech Curricular Documents. Target categories of the cross-cutting theme of the FEP and the National Strategy for Global and Development Education (attitudes and values, skills, knowledge), connections with other strategic documents.
5. Implementation of a cross-sectional theme in schools, cooperation of teachers and schools with non-profit organizations. eTwinning as a community of European schools and a platform for cooperation between pupils and teachers.
6. Czech education in a comparative perspective. Scholarships, mobility and exchange programs for pupils, students and teachers.
7. Sources of teaching materials for teaching a cross-sectional topic, the library and publications of the European House, online resources.
8. Examples of model lessons on EU or GRV issues, didactic analysis of lessons.
