Annotation

This course familiarizes students with the tendencies, conventions and prominent features of present-day academic English, ranging from lexical, grammatical via textual, genre to broader contextual parameters. The course will facilitate the writing of the diploma project.

Themes: 1.Introduction. (Communities of practice and academic cultures. Lingua franca? Role of English in contemporary academic discourse of native and non-native speakers) 2.Conspicuous lexical and grammatical parameters of academic discourse 3.Conspicuous textual, genre and stylistic parameters of academic discourse.
