Cíl kurzu: Naučit studenty pracovat s autentickými jazykovými materiály, ohodnotit obsahovou stránku projevů, odhalit manipulaci, pochopit skryté významy, zvládat řečovou etiketu. Obsah kurzu: Pragmatická analýza textu psaného, mluveného. Zdvořilost, její kulturní zakotvenost, její jazykové formy.
Kooperační princip verbální komunikace a jeho každodenní narušování. Implikatury a presupozice.

Tasks and functions of pragmatics. The fuction of pragmatics within linguistics: trying to solve the practical difficulties that are inherent in the exercise of linguistic functions ("outside agents").
Pragmatics as the study of language from a user point of view. Grice´s maxims of conversation: the Gricean model of meaning and conversational implicature (any of the maxims can be exploited to generate implicata).
Discourse analysis: the explanation of a speaker´s ability to assign interpretations to given utterances in a given context and draw interferences from them. Acts of speech.
Pragmatics in teaching-learning relationship.
