Syllabus

1. Characteristics of romanticism, its inner division, early romanticism in European music.2. Musical species in the period of developed romanticism; neo-romanticism and its main representatives.3. Opera as a key genre of Romanticism, opera reform.4. Czech national music of the 19th century.5. Music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (late Romanticism, Impressionism, Verism).6. Czech music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.7. Stylish pluralism in the artistic creation of the first half of the 20th century.8. Major Art Schools and Groups (Second Vienna School, Paris Six).9. Czech musical avant-garde in the interwar period.10. Main streams in the music of the second half of the 20th century.11. Czech music in the postwar period.12. Contemporary music. 3 credits = 90 hours:class - 8 hours,study of literature - 24 hours,preparation for classes - 24 hours,work with study support - 12 hours,exam preparation - 18 hours.

Annotation

In the lectures the students are introduced to the individual stages of musical development, the seminar is focused on the presentation of specific musical works. Students are encouraged to search for common signs of particular musical streams and periods, connections with historical and social development and to realize the differences of individual styles, directions, art schools and groups.
