The course provides an overview of different types of evaluation in education including their advantages and disadvantages. On the macro level, it focuses on international comparative studies in education (PISA, TIMSS, CIVED etc.), statistical indicators of the Czech public sector of education and national testing of students leaving upper-secondary school and testing of pupils during their compulsory school attendance.
On the micro level, the attention is paid to forms and functions of assessments and evaluation of children in classroom process with the stress on the construction and the use of achievement tests.
