Annotation
In this course, students acquire knowledge of biomedicine and biology of the most common pathological processes in the human body, with a focus on children and adolescents. The main thematic areas that we will deal with are hereditary diseases (with Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance), congenital diseases and developmental defects, growth disorders, metabolic diseases, diseases of civilization and pathologies associated with disorders of the organism's control mechanisms (hormonal and nervous systems).
The second important chapter will be injuries typical of children and their treatment methods, along with first aid procedures in case of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator). Part of the assessment will be the preparation of the assigned topic (home study, seminar work, presentation at the seminar).
