Annotation

The aim of this course is to provide students with the basics of economics. The course defines economics as a scientific discipline, Lectures and seminars are focused on the main trends in economic development (in developed countriesand the Czech Republic) and introduce the basic methods of appraisal of economic development in individual countries and economic blocs.

This course includes the introduction to microeconomics and the main legal forms of business. Attention is given also to financial literacy.The course is focused on the groundings of economics, including the introduction to macroeconomics, the issue of economic cycles, unemployment and inflation.

Other realms covered in the course: the role of stock market and the elementary types of commercial instruments, economic policy (its definition, aims, tools and forms), world economy (its definition, development and structure), the process of regionalization and simultaneous processes of world economy globalisation, European integration and European Union. Seminars are focused on the financial literacy.
