Annotation

The aim of the course is to provide students with a general insight into the field of special pedagogy focused on people with visual impairments. Provide basic information about the etiology of visual defects, the psychological impact of vision loss; To present the possibilities of social rehabilitation.

The content of the subject is focused on the issue of a person with a visual impairment. It draws attention to myths and prejudices on the part of the intact majority and on the part of disabled personalities.

It clarifies the types and degrees of visual defects, states the occurrence and etiology of defects. Provides information on the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of visual perception.

It provides orientation in the system of care for the visually impaired in the Czech Republic, their education in schools for the visually impaired, and within the framework of inclusive education in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and universities. It opens up the problems of blindness, such as stress changes on a psychosocial level
