A course introducing the widest concept of book creation and its artistic, illustrative and graphic concept. Author's approach to the illustrative accompaniment of the text, the interconnection of the text and the image, orientation in the possibilities of graphic design of the book.
Book as a space for linear and nonlinear narration, book as an object, book as a work of art. Creative workshop enabling the search for illustrative and graphic principles and regularities and acquaintance with contemporary authors and book production in a wide range of approaches.
Introduction to illustration and book production; history and contemporary personalities of illustration and book production; comparison of different approaches and orientations in possibilities and different concepts of illustration; experimenting with the possibilities of book graphics; creation of a model and realization of an author's project; consultation and search for the final form of the project; presentation of work, defence and verbal explanation of the approach, evaluation of work. The aim of the course is a basic orientation and acquaintance with the principles of book production and various approaches to the concept of illustrations and pictorial representation of the book.
Work on a set of consecutive illustrations and graphic processing of these images and text (text accompaniment) into a book form. Learn to defend and justify the graphic and illustrative approach to the book.
