Syllabus

1. First aid - definition of pre-medical first aid, goals, priorities, rules. Executive teams of the Integrated Rescue System.

2. Basic examination and vital signs – practical training.

3. Practical training of life-saving procedures, valid guidelines.

4. First aid for stopping bleeding, including wound treatment – practical first aid training.

5. First aid for the most common school injuries – practical first aid training.

6. Injury prevention. Accident book. Practical training.

7. Training of basic bandage technique.

8. Injuries caused by heat and cold. Electric shock. Collapse and shock states. Injury from an animal.

9. First aid for selected diseases.

10. Simulation of injuries and training of their treatment in first aid.

Annotation

The course closely builds on the knowledge gained from somatology and pediatrics. It introduces students to the principles of pre-medical lay first aid.

Emphasis is placed on practical training of common tasks performed in lay first aid and on mastering the technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the most common injuries and diseases. Special attention is paid to specific procedures for providing first aid to children of different ages.
