The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of communication with an emphasis on intercultural communication. Contemporary European integration processes bring with them changes that must also be reflected in the educational process.
Therefore, the students become familiar with the basic principles of the functioning of intercultural communication, also based on the analysis of texts and video recordings with examples of intercultural communication situations. The content of the course consists of topics: Interrelationship of language and culture.
Concept of communication and intercultural communication. Verbal and non-verbal communication.
Problems in intercultural communication and possible strategies for overcoming them. Cultural standards and stereotypes.
Taboo topics.
