The course introduces students to contemporary social problems analyzed and discussed by the social sciences. The content of the course reflects current developments affecting modern societies and introduces students to key concepts, theoretical frameworks, and appropriate research methodologies.
Students will examine specific cases and studies that illustrate these issues in practice and critically evaluate theoretical approaches to explaining current social phenomena. Major topics of the course include the analysis of power structures, social inequalities, political and economic transformations, culture and identities in society, and the impact of technological developments on social structures.
