Syllabus

The course covers the following topics:1. Typology of assessments and tests; principles of assessment and test construction2. Objectivity, validity and reliability; test item analysis3. Sensitivity, difficulty and time requirements of the test4. Standards and the standardization process, calibration; graduation and other standardized tests5. Evaluation of speech production level6. Assessment of speech perception level7. Assessment of the level of mastery of linguistic resources8. Assessment modification and compensation for students with SPU; assessment and diagnostic skills

Annotation

The course introduces multiple methods of assessing L2 skills and language resources. Students analyze various types of tests in relation to testing objectives.

The course provides an overview of the basic psychometric parameters of testing (validity, reliability, sensitivity, objectivity, difficulty, etc.), including their quantitative evaluation. Students are also introduced to the processes of validation, standardization, and calibration of language tests.

Special attention is paid to the assessment of the common part of the Maturita) school-leaving examination and test modifications for students with specific learning needs. The course content includes detailed analyses of students´ performances in the oral and written parts of proficiency examinations in accordance with the prescribed and standardized criteria.
