Abstract: The course is conceived as an overview, chronologically arranged introduction to the basic development lines of world literature with regard to individual artistic trends, trends or current topical issues (avant-garde trends, reflections of the first and second World war, the theme of the Holocaust, the emergence of a new generation and American 60s cultural revolt, postmodernism and the crisis of "great literary stories", utopia and antiutopia in world literature, etc.). The development and transformation of world literature, individual genres and forms, themes and contemporary problems will be embedded in relevant historical contexts, whether social, political, ideological or philosophical.
Adequate parallels or analogies between literature and its transformations and fine arts will also be taken into account (eg. the relationship between the artistic and literary avant-garde, between the 1950s Communist artistic propaganda and literature reflecting the Soviet period of Stalinism, etc.). Some thematic blocks will also offer space for an excursion into the field of literary theory, which will provide a basis for deeper orientation in the given literary issue (eg. theoretical concepts of avant-garde, role of story, author and reader in the perspective of postmodernism, etc.).
