Optional seminar in literature I

Class at Faculty of Education |
OPNF2F120B

Annotation

The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the contemporary development in French literature (terminology, genres of the contemporary literature, the position of a writer today, topics) and to read and interpret texts in French (Izzo, Salvayre, Enard, Houellebecq, Le Clézio, Kundera, Chamoiseau, Bonnefoy, Ernaux, Huston). The emphasis is put on the understanding of literary terminology important for the contemporary literature (« littérature-monde », « autofiction », « littérature francophone » etc.) and primarily on the competence to detect them in the given literary text.

Students work with a reader of French literature referring to secondary literature and deepening their understanding of the concrete extracts. At the last session, students are going to submit their reading diary in French (10 sheets of paper) – the reading diary and a presentation are the credit requirements.
