Annotation
tudents will be introduced to selected stages of the development of French from the earliest period to the present, with particular emphasis on phenomena, issues and topics in the recent history and present of the French language, such as: new spellings, neologisms, new words appearing in dictionaries, the feminization of occupational names, the influence of English on French (franglais), etc. The aim is not only to make students familiar with these topics, but also to introduce them to ways of engaging and using these topics in French as a foreign language classes.
The content of the course is being updated from the winter semester 2022/2023.
