Annotation
The course will focus on the development of literature from the postmodern era to the present. Regarding Germany, the course will examine the changing political climate in relation to current literature. The focus will be on the work of German, Austrian and Swiss authors, as well as authors of migrant literature, including writers with Czech or Slovak roots.
The emphasis will be mainly on prose, or novel and short story works. Literary works will be compared with film adaptations where possible. Attention will also be paid to authors represented in textbooks used in schools with the educational output Das deutsch (österreichische) Sprachdiplom. The following topics are the starting point; one of the works offered will be analysed each time.
