Syllabus

1. Description of steps in the process of conductting qualitative / quantitative research.

2. Characteristics of a well-chosen research topic, formulation of research problem. Sources of information in educational research.

3. Qualitative research in education: grounded theory, case study, ethnography, biographical design.

4. Quantiative research in education: questionnaire surveys, achievement tests, types of scales.

5. Types of sample selections, basic methods of selecting the sample in qualitative and quantiative research.

6. Descriptive statistics: measures of location and variablity of the data, correlation coefficient, visualisation of the data.

7. Basics of inferential statistics: t-test, F-test, chi-square test.

8. Presentation of research output: writing a research report and scientific article.

9. Examples of reserach in educational science published in international scientific journals.

Annotation

Students are being prepared for conducting their own qualitative and quantitative research in the field of educational sciences. They learn how to work with both qualitative and quantitative data and are being prepared for writing research reports and scientific article related to educational science with the emphasis on the high-quality description of research methodology.
