Syllabus

1. Population health, risk factors affecting health, registries, health promotion programmes.

2. Physical and psychological workload (measurement, evaluation), health consequences of excessive workload. Introduction to mental health care, trends in epidemiology of mental disorders, prevention of Down syndrome.

3. Effects of physical, chemical and biological factors on health. History, subjective and objective symptoms of the disease. Physical examination and functional examination of individual systems.

4. Prevention of selected diseases (e.g. cardiovascular disease, metabolic diseases, osteoporosis, cancer).

5. Injury and intoxication in children and adolescents.

6. Specifics of somatic and neurobehavioral difficulties in school age.

7. The importance of prevention of hypokinesia by exercise, exercise, sport, especially in its recreational form. Components of optimal exercise regimen in children and adolescents.

8. Possibilities of using the method anchoring vignette in health education.

Annotation

The subject helps to understand the links between the causes and consequences of health risks in order to trace the possibilities of their influence, dealing with prevention, assessment of the level of potential risk, diagnosis, manifestation and treatment of diseases arising from substandard working and living conditions. It lists students based on statistical data with the incidence rate of individual health risks in our population.
