Annotation

The course focuses on basic biochemical topics covering the composition of living matter, main nutrients (sugar, fats, proteins), their metabolism (glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, beta-oxidation of fatty acids, lipogenesis, ornithine cycle, Krebs cycle and cellular respiration). In addition, attention is paid to proteosynthesis, the structure and function of nucleic acids, polarization/depolarization of the plasma membrane with regard to conduction of excitation, events on the neuromuscular plate and muscle contraction.

Attention is also paid to biologically active substances such as vitamins, antioxidants and signaling molecules.
