Due to various reasons, including demographical changes, the phenomena such as globalization and migration, and, last but not least, the emergence of contextual theologies, Christianity around the globe has recently undergone fundamental changes, leading some to argue that it has become, for the first time in its history, truly a world faith. The emergence of what is often referred to as “World Christianity” has brought up various issues and challenges that need to be analyzed and reflected upon.

The present course will seek to illuminate the changing features of World Christianity today. In particular, attention will be given to analysis and discussion of issues such as church and unity, mission and evangelism, justice and peace, eco-justice, Bible and hermeneutics, migration, health and healing, interfaith dialog, theological education, and others. These issues will be discussed from an ecumenical perspective.

The objective of the course is to help the students understand the “changing landscapes” of World Christianity today.

The students will be required to actively participate in discussion at seminar sessions, do the required readings, and write a final paper.
