Lectures in Social ethics present the students with ethical reflection and the search for moral norms in the fields of social life as economy, work, policy, human rights etc. The lectures give insight into systematic moral reflection od a particular social theme, such as non-violence or just war doctrine. A short text is usually used to exemplify aspects of the problem and discussed in the class. The aim is to make students aquainted with selected problems of social ethics and to help them to develop ability to analyze them critically and be able to discus them.

Usual structure of the lessons: introducing social ethics; the two-kingdoms teaching (Zweireichlehre); the problems at the beginning and end of human life; human sexuality; profession and vocation; war, peace and pacifism; the death penalty; ownership; social justice; human rights;

Christian social teaching; etics of communication (the media)
