The research lecture will present the results of research in the field of history, liturgy, theology and current practice of the so-called "rites of passage" in modern Czech Protestantism. Attention will be paid in particular to baptism, confirmation, marriage and funerals, but we will also touch on the topics of modern rituals such as blessing same-sex couples or blessing and anointing the sick. We will also address the question to what extent these rites actually fulfil the function of "rites of passage" and how the category of "sacraments" is handled in Czech Protestantism.
Unpublished results of newly conducted empirical research will also be presented.
