Annotation

Compulsory final comprehensive exam on issues of the Czech History in the European context:

This exam is focused on European history and above all Czech history (examples from Czech history will contribute to a better understanding of more common issues of European history). The attention is paid mainly to

(a) history of institutions related to systems of power, (b) history of religion, scientific and political thinking and culture history, (c) history of art. Student is required to read at least 20 items, equally distributed into all three thematic areas (from 5-7 items from each area). During the exam the student is given questions relating to his/her list of literature.Students are required to demonstrate not only general knowledge of the upper mentioned sub- disciplines but also the ability to work independently with historiographical literature, to differ information taken from sources and its interpretation based on methodical and theoretical historical work. Organization: Based on texts chosen from assigned literature students orally present five topics selected from the assigned thematic areas.

They are required to have general knowledge of European cultural epochs as well as of the texts assigned for the compulsory exam "Introduction to History”.
