Antropologie práva je sociální věda, která zkoumá právo a rozumí právu unikátním způsobem. Právo pro ni nejsou texty zákonů, ty jsou jen prameny práva; právo je pro antropologii práva v první řadě sociální jednání, které má určité atributy a které produkuje pravidla, jenž určují, jak se lidé musí chovat.
