Anotace

This course gives a basic understanding of common features of qualitative and quantitative research, distinction between them, but mainly concentrates on character of qualitative research in social sciences. The main features of qualitative research will be introduced, while emphasis will be put on the ethnography and interview.

Thematic lectures will be designed to cover baseline of key topics of CESS examination. Seminar part of the course consist on discussion of student`s individual work (design of a research project; design, transcription and analysis of one interview and one participant observation).
