Introductory Readings in Language, Culture and Society

Anotace

The course offers an introduction to the core issues of culture and society through the lenses of language. The main goal is to give basic, albeit necessarily partial, overview of studies on language in anthropology and, thus, to equip students with the background to think critically about the role of language in society and in their own life, how it is affected by people, and how language affects us in turn.
