Human Nature and the Limits of Human Knowledge

Class at Faculty of Humanities |
YBF347

Annotation

This course provides an introduction to a philosophical discussion of questions about human nature, limits of human knowledge, and a purpose of philosophy. Each of the three parts will be primarily based on reading classical texts in philosophy such as Plato, Aristoteles, Hobbes, Descartes, Kant, Kuhn, Russell, or Wittgenstein.

We will also see what contemporary research in philosophy has to say about each of the three topics, and we will draw similarities and differences between classical authors and contemporary approaches to these questions.
