Annotation

In this course we will monitor advertising as a practice of hiding, which conceals itself under the mask of transparency and directness. We will address the question of hidden meanings and methods, which together comprise a coherent unwritten ideology, common contemporary image of the world full of cliches, discrimination and prejudice.

The main method of advertising is the exclusion, fear of asocial, but it is in fact the result of the advertising industry. We will draw upon the classical critical theories by Adorno and others.

Our argument will be developed on specific topics and examples of advertising strategies.
