Annotation
Although we cannot say that anthropology has offered a peculiar social theory, number of such theories has been developed and articulated within anthropological researches. In this sense anthropology has often served the social theory to legitimization of universalistic aspirations of the theory.
Nevertheless, if we perceive theory as a set of systematic and logical predisposition which serves to synthesis of research findings, then anthropology cannot offer the peculiar theory, because its object (social and cultural diversity) is common to other social sciences as well. In this course we should pursue how theory in anthropology influences formulation of topic.
We will not talk about history of anthropological thinking, we will rather focus on key theoretical discussions. This will allow us to revive some unjustly neglected theories.
This should simultaneously help us to grasp the theories as a useful tool of investigation and of research formulation.
