Feminist Science Studies

Class at Faculty of Humanities |

Annotation

This course introduces students to one of the currently most vibrant areas of feminist theory, feminist science studies, and the conceptual tool they offer for gender studies. Feminist science studies scholars work across conceptual divides such as nature and culture, human and nonhuman, discourse and materiality.

We will explore what this implies for the re-visioning of key concepts such as performativity, agency, embodiment and epistemic responsibility, and what conceptual tools the natural sciences may have to offer for feminism. How do matters get done, how do they configure space and time, and how do heterogeneous practices performatively assemble realities? When and how are these practices gendered and gendering?
