Interpretation of the ideas of Edmund Husserl and his critical French followers about the relationship between subject and body. The purpose of this lecture is to introduce students to Husserl's thinking on the physicality of the subject in his book Ideas Pertaining to a Pure Phenomenology and to a Phenomenological Philosophy - Second Book, and in later writings and manuscripts.
In the second part of the semester the course focuses on Maurice Merleau-Ponty's philosophy of the body.
