Annotation

The course focuses on gender dimensions of (public) space, especially through connections between historical narratives and constructions and meanings of public space in different historical eras and their subversions/alternatives (we will analyze historical monuments, memorials, museums, public architecture and art, as well as collective events). We will also study the relationship between gender order and organization of (public) space and its consequences in the present, especially in the context of issues of violence, poverty, sexuality and racism.
