The course is an introduction to the feminist studies of work and work ethic. It will cover following topics: the origins of capitalism, protestant work and today’s work ethic, work as an instrument of emancipation, factory work of women in the new international division of labor, worker’s activism, precariat, housework and work of care, wages for housework, wages for Facebook, economic crisis, corporate feminism, utopias (basic income and shorter working hours), neoliberal rationality.
