This course is recommended for doctoral students and aims to make them familiar with managerial aspects of a successful scientific career. These aspects go beyond individual talent and include interpersonal skills, active approach to grant opportunities and an ability to effectively communicate research with the public.
For many scientists and researchers, the step into a management or supervisory role can be daunting. Whilst scientists are often great at getting to grips with the task-focused elements of management, the interpersonal aspects of the role can be more of a challenge.
Many also struggle with stepping back from their own priorities to help shape and coordinate the work of others. In this course, student will learn, step by step, what it takes to become an effective and productive lab leader.
