Kurs ukazuje Augustinovu představu duše v jejím novoplatonském východisku a postupné christianizaci. Po úvodních hodinách věnovaných duši podle Plotina a Porfyria se kurs soustředí na jednotlivá Augustinova díla, kde se o duši pojednává, a to prismatem různých otázek: co je to duše, vztah duše k tělu, nesmrtelnost duše, vnímání, fantazie, paměť, duše a čas, mysl jako obraz Trojice v Bohu. Od účastníků se krom diskuse v semináři očekává, že připraví jedno zasedání na základě Augustinových textů a sekundární literatury a téma zpracují v cca patnáctistránkovém eseji.
