The Social Security Law is a two-semester common foundations subject taught in the form of lectures and seminars and concluded with an exam.

The subject introduces students into social security both from a systemic point of view and from a point of view of legal relations in social security. During the course, students will acquire a solid knowledge of the function of the system of social security in the Czech Republic. They will also familiarise themselves with legislation of the European Union in this field, as well as with international aspects of this issue.

The crux of study is legal relations in individual subsystems of social security - especially in the fields of social insurance, state social support and social care. The course is also concerned with procedural relations of social security and their peculiarities.

The lectures are supplemented by seminars whose topics are chosen in a way so that students consolidate the knowledge gained in lectures through practical discussion and solving topical cases from relevant fields of social security.

This course is followed by optional subjects taught by the department of labour law and social security law, such as social security in European countries and social insurance.
