Due to its important role in clinical diagnostics, therapy and prevention of infectious diseases, medical microbiology belongs to essential branches of current medicine. In recent years, medical microbiology focuses on a close collaboration between microbiologists and attending physicians.
During their studies, Ph.D. graduates acquire research skills of the interaction between pathogen and host which will result in a deep understanding of pre-analytical, analytical and postanalytical phase. The graduates will be able to apply their skills in medical research as well as clinical practice.
They will able to define scientific hypothesis, to propose methodology and to publish their results in scientific journals. The graduates will be also able to present their results to an expert audience.
