Graduates gain a thorough grounding in speech production and perception, phonological description and current approaches; they develop skills in the acoustic and auditory analysis of speech, and statistical analysis of phonetic data. Given each graduate’s individual professional focus, s/he gains advanced knowledge in interdisciplinary aspects of speech communication.

Graduates of the master’s study programme in General Linguistics have skills in independent analysis of the structure and functions of linguistic material and identifying the cognitive, communicative, and socio-cultural motivations behind grammatical patterns.
