The graduates are trained to deal with theoretical and practical issues associated with the political and regional differentiation of the world. The program focuses on the following topics: the political divisions of the world and geopolitical behavior of states, environmental politics, globalization processes, conflict regions, regional geography of world macroregions, democratization, nationalism, ethnicity, cultural geography, macroregional integration, and environmental effects of economic development.

The graduates are also trained in various techniques, including statistical analysis, geographic information systems and qualitative research methods. The graduates can seek employment as researchers, project managers and managers in the fields of international relations, non-governmental organizations and transnational corporations.
