Graduates of the follow-up Master’s degree programme in Middle Eastern Studies, with a specialization in History and Cultures of the Middle East, have a thorough knowledge of the political and cultural history of the Middle East and North Africa as well as of the major approaches to their academic study. They know the religious systems of the region.

They are able to work independently with source-texts in one of the languages of the region (Arabic, Persian, Turkish). They have mastered the relevant secondary literature and have excellent skills in academic English.

They have a profound understanding of Middle-Eastern cultures, including their inner diversity resulting from historical transformations as well as their mutual relationship with European culture.
